So much for the Baby Boomers! Millennials – that’s everybody 18 to 34 – have become the largest generation and are changing quite a lot in American society, including cosmetic surgery
Otoplasty procedure (“ear Pinning”) is also fairly high on Millennial radar. Thus, more and more Millennials are seeing cosmetic plastic surgeons to enhance their appearances.
“My nose job turned out just fine.”
The rest of us, young and old, seem to be puzzled over what drives people in their 20s for the cosmetic procedures that men and women in their 40s and 50s used to seek seek.
The trend of much younger cosmetic surgery patients has been growing since 2015 when national rejuvenation surgery statistics revealed that Millennials accounted for 20 percent of all cosmetic surgery procedures.
Results: Because Millennials see themselves in a constant stream of “selfie” smart phone pictures, they are more open about anything that enhances their looks and removes facial shortcomings — if any.
Millennials additionally have their collective eyes fixed on celebrity doings and appearances, according to a survey conducted by the American Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS.)
Other surveys and quizzes have found that Millennials want renewed confidence and self-esteem. That age group is very concerned about work life and want the best possible foot put forward on the job..
Beverly Hills cosmetic and plastic surgeons are reporting that desire often leads to increased cases of rhinoplasty for 20 to 30 year olds.
Said one 23-year-old, Rhinoplasty patient: “I’ve had facial surgery and regular BOTOX® treatment because I don’t want to reach 40 find myself saying “Oh my goodness, I have so much to get done.”
Another personality feature among Millennials: they are so well informed having grown up entirely in the digital age.
Because they are so quick to find answers to their questions, they often show up at the offices of plastic surgeons knowing exactly what results they want.
Often, Millennials already know a great deal about those procedures when they have a first cosmetic surgery consultation and ask more pointed, detailed questions.
Yet another survey found the top five procedures favored by Millennials 20 to 29 are:
- Breast Implants
- Rhinoplasty
- Liposuction
- Tummy Tuck
- Breast Lift
Rhinoplasty is so highly favored because Millennials don’t want to go through life with a problem, or oddly shaped, nose. They think of the procedure as doing something to take care of themselves.
Some are even wise enough to ask for a permanent, non-surgical rhinoplasty.
